Apply to: Amir Moosa via www.Mandy.com at http://www.mandy.com/1/cast3.cfm?v=37899211

4 breakdowns:
1. Male / 25-30 yrs. / Caucasian.
Jerry is the lead role. His must help his friend out of the mess he's in, but is more then happy to do it for him. Jerry is a quick kind of guy and knows what to say at the worst times. For inspirations on the role it's best to watch Christian Slater in True Romance. In no way are we asking for a carbon copy of a particular acting style, it's just a guide. From experience it works well.

2. Male / 25-30 yrs. / African American.
He's the comic relief in the film, but is intelligent and political at the same time. At times he could just about do the dumbest things, but he knows when not to play around.

3. Female / 25-30 yrs. / Hispanic.
She has all the smarts and is a strong intelligent women. She is far from a prissy girl but still knows how to catch a guys attention. She is the bosses' sons' fiance and decides to leave the family due to career differences (you'll know more about the story, don't worry). Also, you must be able to perform with a slight Spanish accent. For some sort of inspiration to this role it would be great if you took a look a two films: one called 'The Killing', for a character that goes by the name of Sherry about 11 minutes into the film; and also, Mia Wallace from 'Pulp Fiction'. In no way are we asking for a carbon copy of a particular acting style, it's just a guide. From experience it works well.

4. Male / 31-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Eddie is a supporting character. He is a crime boss that runs the Cartel in Los Angeles. We would preferably want a New York accent but not mandatory. He's not afraid to speak his mind but is a calm and forgiving individual.

LOCATION: Ft. Lauderdale

This is a class project that we are shooting for are craft & business class. We are taking a scene from the 1982 film Blade Runner Ridley Scott. This is not a paying gig but you will receive credit

Character Breakdowns:
Leon: Male; any race; Age 30 - 55, Big Man looks like an over-stuffed kid.

Leon Kowalski is a friend of Roy Batty. His emotions are at a much lower level of development than Roy’s, but he evidently believes in Roy’s quest for more life. He has an A physical level, which enables him to have super-human strength and endurance (according to the Final cut he was used as a 180 kg/400 lb nuclear-head loader in the outer space colonies as well as a front-line soldier). Leon is classified mental level C. He doesn’t have the speed of thought that Roy does when it comes to solving problems. As a result, he often resorts to simple violence. Leon shoots Blade Runner Holden as he administers the Voight-Kampff test. Leon beats Deckard after he witnesses Deckard kill Zhora, but just as he is about to kill Deckard, Rachael shoots and kills him.

Holden:
Male; any race; Age 30 - 45
lean, hollow checked.

Holden is the Blade Runner testing new employees at the Tyrell Corporation on the premise that the escaped Replicants might try to infiltrate the company. He underestimates the Nexus 6 Replicants. It seems that the new replicants are difficult to detect even with the Voight-Kampff machine.
Holden is shot and left for dead while trying to give the Voight-Kampff test to Leon, one of the Nexus 6 Replicants on the run. Later, Bryant mentions that Holden is alive but even his breathing is assisted by machines.

EVENT: SEEKING EDITOR for short film
LOCATION: Ft. Lauderdale

I am looking for an editor to do a final cut of a short film I have directed, produced and self financed. The rough cut is complete. If you know color correction, that is a big plus but is not necessary. Currently, the film is approximately 37 minutes long, but I imagine it'll be closer to 30 when it's tightened up. There will be pay but as I mentioned, this film is self financed so I don't have the biggest budget. The film is for the festival circuit. Post has been a nightmare and I really need to complete the film. The name of it is, "Reporting for Duty" and it is an a-political film about what a military family goes through as a soldier prepares to return to war. The DP is a 5 time Latin Emmy winner and we had an all-professional cast who volunteered their time. To see production stills, please visit our webpage. Please have a demo reel available online or on a dvd.

Hip Hop Is Not Dead, Just Diseased!

It is not a coincidence that the music industry is in a death roll, and choking on it's own puke. The RIAA wants to blame it all on piracy, counterfeiting and bootlegging. I do agree that a large part of the problem is piracy, but part of the problem lies within the infrastructure of the greedy major distribution companies that have pushed, fought and tied the hands of the interconnected companies to the business, the fake promotional companies that saw a means to earn "easy money" off of no good music, and music software companies that have made it much easier for these artists to record music that would have been totally ignored years ago. Their insane pursuit of profit has inspired the current business models out there, and the state of the business that promotes bad music only to stay afloat within their own individual businesses. The age of technology has placed the "physical" domain against the ropes and the "digital" domain has began to take over all sectors of the business, from radio airplay, to sales, to advertising, to recording. Just this year alone, digital sales will go beyond physical sales for the first time in the history of the music industry. Now the major distributors to keep up with faltering physical sales, want to lower the retail price of a cd, when they were the cause of raising prices in the first place.

There are more garbage rappers in the business today that believe they are "next", because they have a high play count on their My Space players, a huge following on Twitter, Face Book, and numerous other social networking sites, and the misconception that if they throw a million mixtapes out there, of other artists original or sampled (mostly not licensed) music tracks, that it will all spell S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Sorry, but all this not a rapper it makes! Just because your homies or your neighbors kids told you that you were tight, does not make you have talent. There is too much garbage out there! The same lines, the same hoe this, bitch this, trap this, floss this, swag this, bang this, fly this, fly that, auto tune gangsters! So before you knock me or this article, I've put in the work in 17 years of working at a major music distributor to know not only the infrastructure of the business, and as a buyer at this distributor, was bombarded weekly with tons of no good music from artists that couldn't even put a proper promotional package together, with a "one sheet', or any other pertinent information except they performed at a local show a million times.

A&R reps are not even considering those artists with a high count on their players, unless they have other music that has not been "burned out"! Ask around if you don't believe me.

You may even have that "elusive street cred" rappers seek, but that still does not make you a rapper, because you shot at, or was shot at! Too many followers and not enough leaders! Now Drake is on top, who probably wouldn't even be considered a few years back, while other auto tune mixtape gangsta rappers wonder why they can't get out of the "industry rut" they are in.

Now don't get it twisted, I do believe if done the right way, a mixtape can be a good promotional tool (in conjunction with a commercial release), but that is just it, a promotional tool, not your album! Then you want a million bloggers to post it on their blogs, and every hip hop mixtape website out there to put it up for sale, when more than likely none of the tracks were even licensed from the first original artist/producer that put it out. And the "Holy Grail" is thinking that by placing a video feed or music player (that automatically plays and clogs up that person's profile) on a million of your "followers" and "friends" pages on all the social networking sites you belong to, that you are promoting. That is not promoting, that is pissing people off! Especially other artists and producers that are promoting their own music.

If you currently are paying any fake promotional company (pay the legitimate companies with proven results) to post your music on their sites, and email blast your mix tape or original music to "their users", STOP! Most of them only want to charge you a fee to keep running their sites, and boost readership of their sites and blogs. If you are paying to perform at open mic nights or show cases, STOP! They only are charging you to keep their nights running and pay for advertising material that will largely end up on the ground any way.

Greedy major distributors and fake promotional companies (pushing mostly mixtapes and garbage rappers, vice good original music only to boost readership of their sites and blogs) have forced the hand of media, life style brand, and radio broadcasting companies to promote the mess that is out there now, and die or lose consumers. Look at what happened to smooth jazz/jazz stations across the country! Where are the true R&B artists these days? Why do you think a rapper like Drake has shine now, who does not have a "street" persona? Consumers want better music, simple and plain! Things are changing, but the change is too slow.

Could preloaded Ipods be the next distribution delivery method and revenue stream?

Although the RIAA pre-warned Ipod manufacturers back in 2006 of the legal ramifications of pre-loading music onto Ipods, I think this is something that the industry truly needs to revisit.

Twenty four percent of persons over age 12 have ever listened to an iPod, iPhone or other MP3 player while connected to a car stereo according to the new Infinite Dial 2010 national survey from Arbitron Inc. and Edison Research.

The new national study showed that 44 percent of all Americans ages 12 and older own an iPod or MP3 player. Among that group, 54 percent have connected their players for listening in the car. "Nearly one in four Americans over age 12 say they have listened to their digital music players by connecting it to their car stereo," said Bill Rose, senior vice president of marketing at Arbitron. "The car is clearly a crucial battleground for people's attention," said Larry Rosin, Edison Research President, "and our study shows that most of those who do listen in this fashion do so more than once a week."

The above statistics makes me want to delve into research and see how beneficial a distribution delivery method of preloaded ipods could suffice and create a brand new revenue stream in the music business. With that said, how much are the majors willing to allow the upload of multiple artists music on such a delivery method to consumers. It has already trickled into some markets globally, and it seems that America is always left holding the bag on the new technology and revenue streams created globally. It could be as simple as licensing the music by artist, genre, etc., to Ipod manufactures and other technology manufacturers that are out there like mp4 players. I think this is something that not only the majors, but independents as well need to research and see if it could be beneficial to them.

Music group EMI in dire straits

Struggling music group EMI faces being taken over by its bankers after failing to clinch a deal to sell the North American distribution rights for its artists to Universal Music Group or Sony Music.

EMI, which has the Beatles, Coldplay, Lily Allen and Pink Floyd on its books, had hoped to raise around 200 million pounds ($304 million) by offering its rivals a five-year licensing contract.

A source close to both sets of talks, who requested anonymity because the discussions were private, said Thursday that they fell apart after a failure to agree on price. EMI declined to comment.

The collapse of talks leaves EMI battling to raise 120 million pounds by mid-June to meet its commitments on loans from U.S. bank Citigroup. Another source familiar with discussions said that Terra Firma will talk to investors about raising the necessary funding.

If funds can't be raised from investors and the loan goes into default, Citigroup could seize EMI and cause it to be sold or broken up.

EMI has been struggling to stay afloat since it was bought by private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners for 4.2 billion pounds on the eve of the credit crunch in 2007, saddling the company with debt.

AP Music Writer Nekesa Mumbi Moody in New York contributed to this report.

Several big-name acts, including Radiohead and the Rolling Stones, quit the label amid the cutbacks and restructuring that followed.

Terra Firma, led by British financier Guy Hands, still owes some 3 billion pounds to Citigroup because of the deal and relations between the two have soured.

Hands is suing Citigroup in New York, alleging that the bank falsely claimed there were other bidders for EMI, encouraging the private equity firm to raise its own offer. Citigroup has denied the allegations.

EMI has fared worse than the three other major labels — Universal, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group — amid the decline of CD sales and the rise of digital music downloading.

Analysts have blamed Hands' relative inexperience in the music business for exacerbating the company's decline.
EMI earlier this year put its iconic Abbey Road studios up for sale after reporting a pretax loss of 1.7 billion for the year to March 31, 2009.

However, it shelved those plans after a public outcry led to the site being put on a protected list by English Heritage and said it would instead seek an investor to help rejuvenate the loss-making studios.

Adding to the company's woes, Pink Floyd successfully sued the company for selling individual tracks digitally and Chief Executive Elio Leoni-Sceti quit the group last month after just 18 months in the job.

Like Hands, Leoni-Sceti, who joined the company from consumer products group Reckitt Benckiser, had found his music industry experience questioned.

Charles Allen, the former chief executive of broadcaster ITV PLC, who was EMI's non-executive chairman, filled the vacancy by taking over as executive chairman.
